Operation get Narendra Modi: By Hook or BY Crook

Flavour of the week is Ishrat Jehan Lashkar-e-Toiba suicide bomber turned Sufi-saint and now as per CM Nitish Kumar daughter of Bihar. Amidst nostril flaring debate someone asked a simple question if three individuals killed with Ishrat were terrorists then was this allegedly innocent girl doing in their company. In response either defender of secularities changed topic or gave meandering pretzel answer that will do even seasoned fiction writers complex. There is a Chinese proverb: longer the explanation greater the lie.
Going by the 11 year long campaign against the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi earlier on 2002 riots and now on allegedly fake encounters of proven Lashkar terrorists if some alien had to descend today in India, he/she/it will get an impression that there was an island of crimeless peaceful country where a devil called Narendra Modi came and started communal- riot/fake-encounter. But it could not be farthest from the truth. Fact is in this country we have seen small/big close to 50000+ riots and overwhelming majority of them under watch of those who swear by secularism, Congress being the worst offender. Some of them like 1984 Sikh killing certainly is not riot it deserves to be called genocide given not even single Hindu got hurt while close to 4000+ Sikhs were mercilessly murdered in nations’ capital Delhi alone. Military was at stone’s throw in army cantt but it remained parked in barrack for 4 days. When members of congress got their blood thirst satisfied then army was called and within few hours they controlled everything in professional efficient manner like they always do. There is long list Bhagalpur/Nelli/Meerut latest in that list being Assam riots of 2012. Other secular messiah Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP government lead by his son by its own admission through affidavit in court has delivered total 27 riots in 2 years. Contrast this with a decade long riot-free curfew-free administration in Gujarat a state known for annual riot and average 100 days curfew/year under much maligned Narendra Modi.
Then there is this fake outrage over allegedly fake-encounter of Lashkar-e-Toiba module that included Ishrat Jehan. Again an alien might think this was the first and only encounter in this country. Fact again could not be farthest from truth. In recent years as per NHRC total 440 fake encounters have happened out of that 5 are in Gujarat and rest in either congress administered state or their secular friend managed state. UP, Maharashtra, and Andhra rule the roost on fake-encounter chart. In Delhi alone 10 fake-encounters have happened. Even in BJP ruled states Karnataka had 10 MP had 10. Those encounters do not matter because investigating them is not convenient. Sonia Gandhi and her congress party are interested in only one person greatest threat to the power-accustomed congress fortune in coming elections. They are so determined to somehow throw some muck on him that prime intelligence agencies IB whose job is to gather intelligence on security threat which it did efficiently in Ishrat Jehan episode, are being harassed for the job they are being paid to do. An ex-intelligence officer RSN Singh claims never in history IB/MI officers were so demoralized. He goes on to mention in the sify article titled “Indian Politicians: Pakistan’s Proxy Soldiers” Col Purohit under incarceration for being part of Abhinav Bharat a Hindu radical organization; was entrusted by military intelligence to infiltrate these radical organizations Abinav Bharat and Indian Mujahidin. Being an efficient and honest officer he did precisely that-kept his seniors in loop all along close to 50 officers vouch for that. But no one is listening he had to be put in jail because bogey of Hindu-Terror needed to be raised. Sadhvi Pragya also in jail in same case since 5 years has not yet been charge-sheeted. Reason is simple the evidence they are propping is not good enough hence dilatory tactics. NO human right organization is bothered about Pragya’s plight. Which country’s law allows a person to be kept in jail without charge-sheet for five years? Yet you will not see any politician taking her case and calling her “Meri Beti”. Here in Ishrat Jehan case there is mountain of evidence the IB director Duval emphatically says there is no doubt about Ishrat Jehan and her three friends being Lashker-e-Toiba terrorists. CBI knows it that’s why ably guided by Justice Abhilasa Kumari, daughter of HP CM Veerbhadra Singh, (judicial propriety question arises here) has kept silent on Ishrat’s terror link. And there is race amongst politicians from Nitish Kumar to Sharad Pawar in declaring this proven Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist their daughter.
Truth will eventually prevail but meanwhile enough sick politics is going to happen and only person coming unscathed out of it is Lashkar gang and their Pakistani handlers. Ho Raha Bharat Nirman—congres style.

Academic Life of FEKU Rahul Gandhi

LIFE OF FEKU Rahul Gandhi
I was still in school when news of Rahul Gandhi getting admission to St Stefans Delhi trickled. A villager like me was not even aware of what St Stefan’s was then but I do remember reading all about that saga. One needed high marks 90+% in qualifying examination to get admission in that institute but Rahul managed to get in with second division which is below 60% marks. He supposedly had a rifle-shooting certificate thus availed special quota. Yes he never participated in any rifle shooting competition but it was claimed he shoots in backyard and is good at it. Alas those kinds of claims don’t work for a mango-man but Rahul was son of then PM whose dubious credential could not be doubted. Right there we had glimpse of first sign of life of #FEKU. It’s another matter that Rahul found going tough in that august institute and unceremoniously dropped out. Some say he failed in Hindi paper in first year and moreover there was a lot of scrutiny thanks to his admission on dubious ground.
Our feku Rahul moved to the University of Harvard, managing admission on sponsored quota. Again found academic rigors too hot to handle hence again dropped out within few months. Life of Feku on the run continued.
For sometime Rahul disappeared from public eye no one knew in which institution this genius got admission or how he kept himself otherwise occupied. Now we know some Rollins college one of the many institutes run by missionaries awarded him bachelor’s degree during that period.
As is the wont every Nehru family man with at best dubious educational standing must rescue India so he joined politics. We were told through affidavit submitted to election commission that Rahul had also earned M Phil from University of Cambridge( an ever indulgent organization for Nehru family scions) in 1994 in Developmental Economics. New Indian Express reports that University of Cambridge informed that he actually got M Phil in 2004-05 not in 1994 and in Developmental Studies not in Developmental Economics. Most importantly the man to be PM Feku Rahul failed in “National Economic Planning and Policy” scoring 58 %( according to the grading scale given in the certificate, 60 per cent is the minimum for a pass). Now we know why he came off at best naïve at worst ludicrous lecturing who is who of business world on future of India while addressing CII summit. Our Feku came of woefully short despite well choreographed event meant to showcase his talent.
Coming back to academic claims, Feku not only forgot what program he was enrolled in but also missed the date of graduation by whole decade. It’s pertinent to note here even his mother Sonia swore in affidavit submitted to election commission that she studied in Cambridge. When George Fernandez and Subramanian Swamy took her to court over the claim she reneged on it passing the fraudulent claim as typo. Even Feku’s sister is drop-out in BA from Delhi University she too allegedly failed in compulsory Hindi paper.
Indian democracy doesn’t put academic qualification as pre-requisite to seek any public office yet our Feku gang feels the need to lie about education tells all you need to know about their integrity. I fair soc providing fraudulent information about education debars you from electoral politics but our Feku is above law.

Convenient Conscience of Sushashan Babu: Nitish Kumar

This sudden secular-uwaach of ex-Laloo loyalist Tiwariji from the dais of Nitish Kumar is very intriguing. To be fair to Tiwariji he has not changed his secular-music exactly same language he had even while sitting beside Lalooji. Difference in those days was that Nitish used to counter it and rightly so. Fact is Nitish Babu was railway minister when that unfortunate incident of 2002 happened. He even gave Shri Narendra Modi certificate of secularism and denigrated all his critics outside NDA. I am quoting here Nitish’s exact words after the resounding victory of BJP in 2002 Gujarat election:Gujarat victory a verdict against cong: BJP allies

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2002-12-15/india/27302852_1_gujarat-victory-narendra-modi-verdict” NEW DELHI: Congratulating the BJP, its allies at the Centre on Sunday refuted suggestions of any “polarisation” of votes in Gujarat but said it was a verdict against the Congress.”The people of Gujarat were aggrieved with the kind of image painted outside the state and hence reacted in this way,” senior Samata party leader and Railway Minister Nitish Kumar said.Claiming that there was no polarisation of votes between Hindus and Muslims, he said, “People are secular and they do not like any fundamentalists”.

“Not only this Nitish Babu sought Narendra Modi’s help in election campaign in 2005 In Bihar and he got him in the ground campaigning for NDA. Media since then has showered laurels on Nitish for bettering the Laloo era governance which he certainly did. Many started talking PM Nitish. In all probability Nitish too started believing that it can be possible. But he knows he will never be PM under NDA umbrella. Hence this rocking the boat on “convenient meaningless secularism” ground has started. Fact is Indian constitution doesn’t allow any non-secular to even fight election so get off your high horse sir people who you have been happily hobnobbing with do not become communal for events that happened before you had no issues with their proximity. None is buying this drama.

Now little straight talk on what lies ahead if Nitish Babu does break off ties. Fact is BJP’s vote 100% get transferred to JD(U) while JD(U) vote doesn’t get transferred to BJP completely. Once again thanks to sick politics on the altar of secularism/appeasement. So BJP too will get hit in case of no alliance but JD(u) will take bigger hit. Even during last election there was murmur of Nitish going alone but he found in internal survey he will not get more than 45 seats. So Nitish Babu open your eyes old RJD stalwart are putting spanner in your path you will be virtually inviting Laloo back to power if you go your separate ways. For migratory birds like Tiwariji it doesn’t matter he will easily change his master and will return to RJD camp.

You will be the loser. As you can justify RSS men like Girirraj Singh in your cabinet saying we follow common minimum program similarly you must extend the courtesy to NDA because they too run on common minimum program.Tailpiece: Speculation is that Shri N K Singh wants to be finance minister hence this urgency on your part over PM candidate. All I can say is “Vinash Kale Viprit Buddhi”.

Chaitanya Kunte against NDTV ( Attempt to silence bloggers won’t work )

Chaitanya Kunte against NDTV

Shoddy journalism

This is the original Piece written by Chyetanya Kunte but later on he had to retract because of legal pressure from NDTV. I have posted it here for posterity & preservation since Google Cache may clear it anytime.
Shoddy journalism

Appalling journalism. Absolute blasphemy! As I watch the news from home, I am dumbfounded to see Barkha Dutt of NDTV break every rule of ethical journalism in reporting the Mumbai mayhem.

Take a couple of instances for example:
In one instance she asks a husband about his wife being stuck, or held as a hostage. The poor guy adds in the end about where she was last hiding. Aired! My dear friends with AK-47s, our national news is helping you. Go get those still in. And be sure to thank NDTV for not censoring this bit of information.

In another instance, a General sort of suggests that there were no hostages in Oberoi Trident. (Clever.) Then, our heroine of revelations calls the head of Oberoi, and the idiot confirms a possibility of 100 or more people still in the building. Hello! Guys with guns, you’ve got more goats to slay. But before you do, you’ve got to love NDTV and more precisely Ms. Dutt. She’s your official intelligence from Ground zero.

You do not need to be a journalist to understand the basic premise of ethics, which starts with protecting victims first; and that is done by avoiding key information from being aired publicly—such as but not limited to revealing the number of possible people still in, the hideouts of hostages and people stuck in buildings.

Imagine you’re one of those sorry souls holed-up in one of those bathrooms, or kitchens. A journalist pulls your kin outside and asks about your last contact on national television, and other prying details. In a bout of emotion, if they happen to reveal more details, you are sure going to hell. Remember these are hotels, where in all likelihood, every room has a television. All a terrorist needs to do is listen to Ms. Barkha Dutt’s latest achievement of extracting information from your relative, based on your last phone-call or SMS. And you’re shafted—courtesy NDTV.1
If the terrorists don’t manage to shove you in to your private hell, the journalists on national television will certainly help you get there. One of the criticisms about Barkha Dutt on Wikipedia reads thus:

During the Kargil conflict, Indian Army sources repeatedly complained to her channel that she was giving away locations in her broadcasts, thus causing Indian casualties.
Looks like the idiot journalist has not learned anything since then. I join a number of bloggers pleading her to shut the f⋅⋅⋅ up.
Update: In fact, I am willing to believe that Hemant Karkare died because these channels showed him prepare (wear helmet, wear bullet-proof vest.) in excruciating detail live on television. And they in turn targeted him where he was unprotected. The brave officer succumbed to bullets in the neck.

Update 2 [28.Nov.2300hrs]: Better sense appears to have prevailed in the latter half of today—either willfully, or by Government coercion2, and Live broadcasts are now being limited to non-action zones. Telecast of action troops and strategy is now not being aired live. Thank goodness for that.
Update 3 [30.Nov.1900hrs]: DNA India reports about a UK couple ask media to report carefully:
The terrorists were watching CNN and they came down from where they were in a lift after hearing about us on TV.
— Lynne Shaw in an interview.
1. Oh, they have a lame excuse pronouncing that the television connections in the hotel has been cut, and therefore it is okay to broadcast. Like hell!
2. I’m thinking coercion, since Government has just denied renewing CNN’s rights to air video today; must’ve have surely worked as a rude warning to the Indian domestic channels

Reality of Frobesganj Episode in Bihar

Taken from comments section of bihartimes

Some of the basic truths are :

1.Bhjanpur is a village in Forbesganj dominated by muslims.

2.The mob that gathered, it gathered not for any cause but was a gathering mobilized by some men with vested interest . Prominent among them is one Gaus Mohammad who was heavily paid by one businessman of the place with dubious credentials and he is Mul Chand Golchha . A history of recent past is that his brother was killed by some unknown criminals while he had gone to a place on Narpatganj road to oversee some contract work .The other partners in this contract work were Mr. Jakir Hussain, MLA Araria, Bhola Tiwary of Jogbani all with dubious character. This has been mentioned to describe the main traits of the GOLCHHA family. They have been usurers , are still now and thrive on business of hoarding of food supplies. Mul Chand is known for his over –indulgence in purchase of BPL food . An added advantage for him is proximity of FCI godown within say 250 meters of his so called Rice Mill namely GOLCHHA UDHYOG.

4. Apart from these types of businesses he also entertains an ambition that Forbesganj should remain a place of his likes and dislikes and does not want that big business or a bigger industry than his to flourish in the town. Marwaari community is divided in two major sects viz. Agrawals and Oswals .It is his habit to always commit such actions so that Agrawals should / may not come up and live well ,a normal life .Ashok Agrawal whose factory has been burnt by the mobilized crowd on that ill-fated day is also an AGRAWAL.

5.If this factory would have come in production, it would have greatly helped the growers of Maize ,the acreage of this crop is increasing at amazing pace. Today the price of Maize is around Rs.700-Rs.800 which was around Rs. 1300 /-about two or three months ago. The price factor is the main reason for a farmer to switch over to this crop. Had this Maize starch factory commenced production in time the farmers were very enthusiastic and had started storing maize for this factory and maize price would have been sustained at this level. The inward movement of Maize in the market had decreased and this was not suitable to Mul Chand Golchha and his cohorts . One among them is Mahendra Marothi, he also has earned by surreptitious business deals only. Mul Chand is the main exporter of Maize from our state to states like Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal . The adoption of ambition of the farmers to store maize was not allowing the prices to go down and Mul Chand stood to lose . This also might have infused divisive tactics in him .

6. The police and the administrative officers of the state would have either been killed at the site of this mishap or would have been taken hostage for a very costly settlement with the state .The unruly mob indulged in massive arson and loot of the property of the up-coming project with all its might. There is no-body from the arena of politics or press who have said or any day came out with the facts of the circumstances that led to police firing . Had the police not resorted to this drastic step not only the whole of the property would have been hijacked/looted/burnt but would have led to killing of the police personnel at the site. The S.P. was virtually taken out of the vehicle she was sitting in, forcibly and her body was invaded in the glare of the public and press people who showed great aptness in revealing one instance of an insane police who was never instructed to make such brutal attack on one of the mobsters. It was his personal motivation that he acted so brutally. The press should be indicted for hiding the other clips particularly those that would have depicted the merciless mobsters abusing the government as a whole incessantly and that in which one of the mobster had even slapped the S.P. These are the facts hidden by the media intentionally and one should not go on blaming the personality of Nitish Kumar like this.

7. One of the press person namely Farhad Shabbir son of late Shabbir Alam has captured all nasty scenes but revealed only that , one where police brutality became manifested . This person is attached to one TV channel . It is his business to earn from such alignments with electronic media or print media. He has been switching from one media to the other frequently because of his unholy traits. This person allegedly has connection with the under world of far flung places .He is allegedly an active member of the banned pro Islamic outfits. It’s alleged that he is daily visited by criminals of this area who sit till late night at his residence located in D.D. Road, Forbesganj. He owes crores of rupees to Bihar State Finnacial Corporation, and nationalized banks operating in this area. He indulges in sale of spurious engine lubricants . He is also facing so many cases of theft of BSFC property that he has stolen from his own factory after it became sick due to his own over indulgence in alcohol and womanizing . This person is also a member of the caucus led by Mul Chand Golchha . The clip of police brutality was handed over by him to Jakir Hussain LJP MLA from Araria who sent copies of the clip to all media.

These are the many facts of this mishap. No police person had gone to the houses of the people who have been killed but the killed persons were a part of the mob which indulged in heavy arson and loot of private property and that of that industry which would have brought enough prosperity to this area .

Ghalib: Pejoration and Plaudits

Ghalib: Pejoration and Plaudits

Ghalib easily is the most popular name in the world of urdu/persian poetry of Indian subcontinent. (In erstwhile Persia today’s Iran that distinction goes to Hafeez Shirazi. My persian friend claims in Iran there exists two holy books Quran and poetry of Shirazi.) In early years he was more persian and less urdu ; later on succumbed to the public criticism and eased on servings of dialectic persian references in his verses. It is believed that Ghalib was not that arcane in early years. It would be pertinent to mention here when I say arcane I mean arcane for amateur aficionados for the real lovers of this genre of literature he remains utter delight in all his myriad style-forms from chaste persian to chaste urdu.

Brief account of the incident that changed the poetic style of Ghalib . Once verse of some poet with identical pseudonym ‘Asad’ without any distinctive oration came to Ghalib’s notice. People took it to be Ghalib’s creation. Young Asadullah Khan got worried that the common pseudonym might do severe damage to his name not only changed his pseudonym from Asad to Ghalib but also started talking in words that were latin to the tyros but underlined his mastery of the langauge. This was not the only reason it’s believed Ghalib knew he was master of the persian langauge and wanted to show it in order to distinguish himself from other erstwhile poets of considerable repute like — Mir, dard, Zauq or Zafar.

In later years this distictive flair became subject of his critic. Yagana Changezi a contemporary writer accused that Ghalib deliberately makes his poetry complex even where not called for in order to showcase his vainglorious knowledge. Charges were not without substance. At the very opening of his Diwan stands that notoriously difficult poem which guards the portal of Ghalib’s poetry and blocks the entry of uninitiated reader into highbrow poetic terrain. Sample the verse:
नक्श फर्यादी है किसकी शोखी-ए-तहरीर का,
काघजी है पैराहन हर पैकर-ए-तस्वीर का,
Little detour here : Poems like this doesn’t make complete sense even today to even the very keen followers of literatuer like Kushwant Singh. You can find the mention of the same here in an article dedicated to the eulogy of that indomitable Parasi, of Murree Brewery fame, from Pakistan; Minoo Bhandara.
<http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?sectionName=ViewsColumnsSectionPage&id=f89f168a-42ed-4c9e-9e7d-c6902ff2ed42&&Headline=Secular+blunders&strParent=strParentID>
Changezi not only accused him of obscurantism but also of plagiarism. As per him Ghalib was a thief who stole without apology, a wilfully obscure writer lost in the labyrinth of word and images, a versifier with little sense of metre and melody. In several of his rubaies Yagana makes Ghalib object of ridicule:
दीवानों के ये जोर, ना देखे, ना सुने
नादानों का ये शोर ना देखे, ना सुने
झंडे पे चढ़ाने को चढ़ाते हैं मगर,
गालिब से चाचा चोर ना देखे, ना सुने
Charges of obscurantism may have some merit but plagiarism charge seems to be outpouring of an iconoclast , out to demolish the idols of popular adoration.
When some of his contemporary poets including his disciple and friend Hargopal Tufta cast doubts on originality of Ghalib’s lines, He rejected the insinuations. He writes to Hargopal Tufta : ” You say that I must have kept before my eyes Naziri’s diwan while writing my ode, and must have built my poem after his model. Far from it. By God I wasn’t even aware before I received your letter that Naziri had also written a qasida with this rhyme arrangement .. remember brother, poetry is not about finding rhymes and rhythms, but charging words with thought and meaning.” He might have been influenced by ideas of his predecessor but then again , who is not?
Other critic and contemporary of Ghalib Agha Jaan Aish was relatively charitable in accusations of obscurantism. One can sense a hidden appreciation for his mastery over words even in the criticism. This is evident from an oft-quoted satirical piece at one of Mushaira dedicated to the complexity and obscurity of his poetry.
Some might call it criticism whereas others may identify it as back-handed praise.
The most influential criticism or suggestion came from great Mir. Looking at Ghalib’s early verse Mir remarked: If this boy finds an accomplished teacher he will become an incomparable poet, otherwise he will write nothing but poetic nonsense.”

Regarding charge of obscurantism Ghalib himself never denied it and even accepted that he has modeled himself on seventeenth century Persian poet Bedil. It was a difficult choice according to his own admission:
तर्ज़-ए-बेदिल में, रेखता कहना,
असद-उल्लाह खान, क़यामत है.
He even penned a couplet expressing his indifference to the criticism.
ना सिताइश की तमन्ना, ना सिले की परवाह,
ना सही गर मिरे अशार में मानी ना सही|
(I do not hanker after praise, nor seek reward. If my verses make no sense, I do not care a jot.)
In few places he even indulges in self-aggrandisement.
हैं और भी दुनिया में सखुन्वर बहुत अच्छे,
कहते हैं के ग़लिब का है अंदाज़-ए-बयान और.
This veneer of indifference and self-aggrandisement aside Ghalib did change his style while still maintaining his distinctive imprint in later of his verses. While on one hand he has written poems of naqsh-faryaadi type, he also has penned endearingly simple poems like Dil-e-naadaan tujhe hua kya , Koi umeed bar nahin aati. All said and done Ghalib was in altogether different class. Just sample how two poets one Ghalib and another Iqbal express same thought in different style.
Ghalib:
तैत में ता रहे ना मय-ओ-अंग्बीं की लाग,
दोज़ख में डील दो कोई ले कर बहिश्त को.
(Lest the lure of wine and honey taint worship’s name, let someone thrust the paradise into the hell aflame.)
Iqbaal:
सौदागरी नहीं, ये इबादत खुदा की है,
ऐ बे-ख़बर, जीजा की तमन्ना भी छोर दे.
( It’s not business but worship of god, renounce, ye ignorant, even the hope of reward.)

While Iqbal makes a bare and didactic statement denouncing the desire for reward in matters of worship Ghalib makes you detest the imagined fruits of piety, wine, and honey and implores for the whole paradise to be cast into hell lest name of paradise get tainted.

While criticism were far and few plaudits were showered on him and rightly so from all quarters. Syed Ahmed compares him with the famous persian poets Hafiz, Khaqani and Khusro, while Mohammed Hussain Azad calls him monarch of poetic kingdom. Even his contemporaries like Momim , Zauq ( he tipped Ghalib in race of royal poet), and Shefta couldn’t help acknowledging the supremacy of Ghalib. But the highest praise came from Dr. Abdul Rahman Bijnouri who expressed his praise in words like , “India owns two books of divine revelation: (1) the holy Vedas, and (2) Diwan-e-Ghalib.”

History Lessons for PM-Nitish Brigade

History Lessons for PM-Nitish Brigade

It was 1994 when an overtly casteist “Mahakurmi Rally” stunned even deeply casteist Bihar polity. Even Laloo Prasad Yadav has never attempted anything that brazenly casteist. Messiah of that rally was none other than the flavour of the month Shri Nitish Kumar. After that rally he floated Samta party which predictably came coppers winning approximately five seats. Between 1995 to 2000 NDA happened and Nitish ended up being railway minister. Advaamiji first hand witnessed Nitish’s governance potential and in next election despite significant opposition from within Nitish’s own party he was propped as the NDA CM in waiting. That election threw very close verdict and dreaded Surajbhan Singh and Munna Shukla who’s who of crime world in Bihar somehow cobbled enough support for Nitish to be sworn in only to be defeated within seven days. Come 2005 election NDA cobbled wafer thin majority but governor Boota Singh played spoiled sport .Assembly was abolished and in reelection sympathy helped propel NDA to clear majority. In addition to the obvious “low hanging fruit” kind of development Nitish Kumar was fully aware of the import of caste equations. If one notices Nitish’s first term closely then one thing becomes clear in first half he had to concede a lot of power to upper caste leaders in later half through his EBC/M-OBC (MAHADALIT and muslim-OBC) consolidation he started feeling emboldened and hence started cutting their wings. Even very competent officers from upper caste like Abhayanad Singh of IITJEE Super-30 fave had to bear the brunt. Most honest & efficient minister in the cabinet Shri Chandra Mohan Rai was unceremoniously dropped. A mega hospital project with investment promise of 800 crore by Dr Rajeshwar Thakur was grounded. Grapevine is that even Prabhunath Singh’s wafer-thin defeat in parliamentary election was contrived by elements within JD(U). Even implementation of Bandopadhyay committee report apropos sharecroppers’ rights was flirted with. Landed peasants both from upper caste and OBC were understandably under fear. Under this backdrop Nitish tested water of efficacy of his new caste-equations in assembly by-election and was rudely awakened where Laloo routed NDA. Then came the whammy of internal poll which made the picture more lucid for the original casteist in Nitish. This led to frantic visit of all the BJP politicians in particular quelling people’s fear about sharecroppers’ right. Carefully chosen upper caste leaders were wooed in place of the ones that had been alienated. So it’s BJP that has propelled Nitish not the other way around.

On development front there was enough room for Nitish to deliver and he has done that. Particularly in education/road-infrastructure/law & order/health. This development and carefully crafted caste equations have added just 4% in popular vote. So there is no need to be complacent. Incidentally, it’s pertinent to note Laloo has lost only 2% of his vote share.

The most amazing thing that has happened in Bihar under NDA is the empowerment of women. This is where lies the hope of caste-less polity. Miles to go before Delhi MSM journo start seeing messiah worthy of PM in Nitish or writing obituary for caste-equations in electoral politics.

Unprecedented mandate also means unprecedented expectations. It would be important to see how NDA delivers given the hostile and vindictive central government. Next time people will not be happy with just roads and schools. Nitish must mend fences with Narendra Modi and seek investment in next Gujarat Mela. Ye Dil Maange more and why not.

Tailpiece: MSM journos please give, your over-zealous extrapolation of this election result with far-reaching consequences for rest of the India, a rest. Political change doesn’t conform to editorial deadline.
